" that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”

1Thessalonians 4:13

Through the application of the guiding principles of God’s Word, Biblical Counseling can help one achieve desired healing against the backdrop of Biblical truth. God’s unconditional love, grace, mercy and forgiveness offers a hopeful road to healing and change, whether it is navigating personal struggles, loss, marital or family issues.  By gaining an eternal perspective, we have a blessed hope for the future and for the here and now.

“The only object to hold on to when my life is broken is in the shape of a cross.  The hope is that you will grow and endure the life experience God has bestowed upon you.”  Bill Ammon

Bill and Melba Ammon

Dr. Bill Ammon is an Easterner (PA-NJ) who spent three years as a US Marine.  He spent seven years in study and graduated with a D Min as a Doctor in Pastoral Counseling.  (Pastor) Bill also pastored churches for thirty-five years having started four.  He supported himself by counseling as his wife Melba did her part with 35 years as a unit secretary in the hospital setting. Bill and Melba have three beautiful children- Bill, Bonnie, and Dawn, along with six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  They have been married for 59 wonderful years.

Dr. Bill was also an “Adjunct Professor” for Trinity College and Theological Seminary (Newburg IN).  He spent years working with students and traveling the country teaching Seminars on pastoral ministry and grief recovery for the losses.  Later, he traveled the world sharing the same seminars, teaching churches and their Deacons/Elders.

After retiring from the ministry, he began to work for the Franklin Graham “Rapid Response Teams.”  He was with the first counseling team in the aftermath of the Katrina disaster, the shootings at Virginia Tech, Binghamton floods, and others.  This led to Dr. Bill being featured in Billy Graham’s “Decision” (March 1966) magazine and subsequently taught grief recovery at the “Cove.”  He has written and published 15 books.

We are so overjoyed to have Dr./Pastor Bill and Melba and very grateful that God brought them to Calvary Chapel Berkeley.  They are treasures in our church family, and we look forward to how the Lord will continue to use them both.
