Who We Are...
We are ordinary people, saved by the love and grace of an extraordinary God, Jesus Christ. We want to share the love of Jesus, and while we admit that we sometimes fail, we are so grateful for God's mercy and grace, and the victories we've experienced personally through Jesus, that we feel compelled to share this with others.
We teach that the Bible was and is inspired by the Holy Spirit, and while it was written across many generations, through forty authors, that it is trustworthy and the original writings are without error. So, we rely on the Bible to direct our understanding of life.
As a fellowship, we are formally associated with Jersey Shore Calvary Chapel in Point Pleasant Beach, but we enjoy fellowship with like-minded believers and we don't let matters of distinction keep us from ministering the Love and Grace of Jesus Christ to all who need encouragement in this difficult world we live in.
Pastor Tom Jencsik comes to Berkeley from Jersey Shore Calvary Chapel in Point Pleasant, where he was involved in leadership for 12 years as a founder and Pastor, and still serves on the board and as an elder.
He and his wife Debbie moved to Berkeley Township in 2019. They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. Debbie is an accomplished and respected artist, with a heart for women's ministry.
Pastor Tom has a heart for evangelism and encouragement. Tom's favorite verse is, 1 Corinthians 15:57; "But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
...and what we believe.
There is one sovereign and eternal God and that he reveals Himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
That as a father and the Creator of ALL things, God both cares for His creation and transcends His creation.
That as a son, in the person of Jesus Christ, He shows His empathy for our lowly state and makes himself accessible to all humanity, and yet bridges the gap between the Father and His people through the activity of His Spirit and His Word.
That Jesus is both fully God and fully man, and that He was born of a virgin birth, led a sinless life, provided vicarious atonement through His death on the cross, was bodily resurrected and ascended to the right hand of the Father, and that He will return in glory and power for His people.
That the work of Jesus' Holy Spirit is necessary to experience victory over sin, and is a present and active ministry in the life of a believer; and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are to be coveted and encouraged.
That the "church" represents those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and continue to accept Jesus' authority over their lives, and is not limited to a building or an organization; and represents ALL persons throughout time who have confessed their need for Jesus' forgiveness of and repented of their sin.
That all people are, by nature, separated from God and responsible for their own sin; that apart from regeneration by the Holy Spirit and the shed blood of Jesus Christ no one could be saved, and that salvation is by the grace of God through faith alone.
That all of the gifts of the Spirit mentioned in the Scripture are valid for today, and that God distributes the gifts as He wills.
In the "premillennial" return of Jesus Christ for the establishment of His millennial Kingdom on Earth.
In the resurrection and rapture of the saved, and the resurrection of the unsaved; they that are saved to eternal life, and they that are unsaved to eternal damnation.
